Parliament in Haiti rejects new government
The tedious search for a new government in Haiti is in a new round. The Parliament in Port-au-Prince could not agree on the transitional President Privert proposed candidates.
After the arduous agreement on an interim President in February, the political crisis in Haiti is gone in a new round. The Parliament rejected after an hours-long debate, the nominated Prime Minister, the Fritz, Jean (picture) and the government.
38 of the 75 MPs present voted for Jean and his Cabinet, 36 voted. The approval was miles away from the mandate to form the government the necessary 60 votes. Most of the votes against came from the camp of the former President, Michel Martelly.
Martelly was divorced at the beginning of February without a chosen successor from office, since the run-off election had to be postponed by his successor due to manipulation allegations of the Opposition. New date for the second round of the 24. April, at 14. May, the new government should be sworn in chief.
Setback for transitional President Privert
In order to prevent an institutional vacuum, agreed Martelly and the presidents of the two chambers of Parliament on the appointment of a transitional President. The 120-day mandate, went to Senate President Jocelerme Privert.

His task is to organize the second round of the presidential election and parliamentary by-elections. Before he can, however, nominate the members of the electoral Council, he must search again for a head of government. The process could be weeks, if not months, to fear political observers.

Haiti suffers further from the consequences of the devastating earthquake in January 2010, in which more than 250,000 people have lost their lives. 40 percent of the state budget will be financed through development aid. The dispute between the now from the office divorced Martelly and the Opposition had paralyzed Haiti in the past few years, in addition to politically.
