A federal appeals court on Monday upheld an earlier jury decision that held Donald Trump liable for sexually assaulting writer E. Jean Carroll in the 1990s.

The decision means that Trump is still obligated to pay $5 million in damages to Carroll, who accuses him of “raping” her in a fitting room, but it is not even clear which year the alleged assault took place. She says she can't remember.

The appeals court rejected Trump's argument that previous court decisions were wrong. According to the ruling, Trump failed to show that “any alleged wrongful decision affected his rights to an extent that requires a new trial,” according to Fox News.

The jury's decision from last year found Trump liable for attacking Carroll in a fitting room at a New York department store in the mid-1990s. At the same time, he was found guilty of defamation after denying the allegations and launching a verbal counterattack during his presidency.

“Politicization of our courts”
Carroll's defense attorney, the notorious leftist lawyer Roberta Kaplan, welcomes the verdict.

– Both E. Jean Carroll and I are grateful for today's decision, Kaplan said in a statement.

However, the Trump organization rejects the verdict and accuses the justice system of being politicized.

– The American people have re-elected President Trump by an overwhelming majority and demand an end to the politicization of our courts and a swift end to the witch hunt, said Trump spokesman Steven Cheung.

He promises that the verdict will be appealed.
