SMHI warns of slippery conditions in the early morning hours of New Year's Day and snowfall that could make visibility difficult for fireworks enthusiasts.
The snow will fall by midnight, especially in the central and southern parts of the country.
The weather also means that roads can become treacherous, especially when the temperature varies between zero and freezing. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to be extra careful.
The best New Year's weather will be there
However, conditions look better in the northern parts of the country. Those in Västerbotten and Norrbotten can look forward to clear and calm skies, which makes for perfect conditions to enjoy New Year's Eve.
Regardless of the weather, SMHI advises everyone to take it easy in traffic and stay updated on the weather conditions during the evening.
