Amnesty International's campaign in the Stockholm subway has sparked an outcry among liberal politicians in various bourgeois parties.

The organization states in the advertisement that Israel is committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza – a message that is provoking reactions from several quarters.

Kristoffer Tamsons (M), former traffic regional councilor in the Stockholm region, is one of the most vocal critics.

– This type of stance has no place in public transport, Tamsons tells Aftonbladet.

The government's “national coordinator against exclusion”, the Kurdish radicalist Gulan Avci (L), has previously sharply criticized the campaign. In a post on X, she claims that the message makes “Jewish life” in Sweden more difficult during the holiday of Hanukkah.

However, Amnesty defends the campaign and emphasizes that it aims to create awareness about the situation in Gaza. In an email to Aftonbladet, the organization writes that it has received both positive and negative feedback:

“Over 44,000 Palestinians have been killed in the genocide so far and we want more people to get involved against this. The Swedish government needs to stand up against genocide and the other human rights violations Israel is accused of.”

SL's press service refers those who want to report the advertisement to the Advertising Ombudsman.
