Inrikes. In his New Year's speech last year, Ulf Kristersson promised that the “paradigm shift” would begin in earnest in 2024. Now his SD colleague Jimmie Åkesson is making a similar promise – for 2025.

It is in a feature on his own party channel Riks on YouTube that Jimmie Åkesson explains that it is next year that things will change, but for real this time.
– Now the political delivery is really starting, says the SD leader and refers to the fact that the controversial multi-year investigations that the Tidö government has appointed will finally begin to result in legislation.

One of the most important investigations, the one on stricter citizenship requirements, will be presented as early as January 15. SD has received harsh criticism from its own voters for not ensuring that a moratorium is introduced for new naturalized citizenships while waiting for the long investigation to be completed. This has led to hundreds of thousands of additional immigrants – many of whom are Syrians – having received or will receive Swedish citizenship during Ulf Kristersson's time in power, which means that it will be impossible to send them home without leaving the EU.
– This is something that we have been asking for for a long time and which is ultimately about elevating citizenship, says Jimmie Åkesson.
In Riks, he also addresses other political measures within immigration policy in 2025 that he believes will make a difference.
