“Babyface” charged with new rape

A previously convicted serial rapist, known by the nickname “Babyface”, is once again on trial. This time suspected of a new rape in Gothenburg.

Enver “Babyface” Durakovic spread terror among Gothenburg's women during the 2010s. He rode a moped and forced his way into women's homes, often in the middle of the day, where he committed his crimes.

He was released in 2021, and now “Babyface” is being charged with forcing a woman into sexual acts in his home. The rape is said to have occurred in September of this year.

According to the lawsuit, Durakovic pushed the woman down on a couch and forced her to have sex. Neighbors who called the police say the victim was very upset after the incident. An alternative classification that the prosecutor is considering is the purchase of sexual services.

“My client denies the crime,” commented defense attorney Robert Arrelid in connection with the Court of Appeal's decision to remand him after the district court initially rejected the request.

“Babyface”, who received his nickname because of his childish and pudgy appearance, was sentenced to forensic psychiatric care at the age of 16 for rape and a series of sexual assaults and robberies in Gothenburg areas such as Majorna and Johanneberg.

After eleven years in forensic psychiatric clinics, he was released in 2021. Since then, he has been convicted of assault and violence against an official, writes GP.

After the woman's report, Enver Durakovic was immediately arrested, but the district court saw no reason for remand. However, the Court of Appeal changed the decision, but by then “Babyface” had already disappeared. After ten days on the run, he turned himself in to the police, according to GP.
