25 survived, 42 dead in serious plane crash in Kazakhstan

Foreign. A passenger plane has crashed in Kazakhstan with 67 people on board. Although the plane was completely destroyed, 25 people somehow managed to survive the crash, writes Ria Novosti.

In video images, you can see how the pilots seem to be struggling with problems with both the plane's propulsion and its rudder or wing flaps.

The plane is at an airport and descends to make an emergency landing at high speed. Upon impact, the plane immediately skidded off the runway, split into several parts and caught fire.

The plane was reportedly en route from Baku in Azerbaijan to Grozny in southern Russia.

Azerbaijan Airlines writes that 67 people were on board, of which five were cabin crew.

Ria writes that 25 people have survived and that 22 people have been taken to hospital.

Initial death tolls indicate that 42 people died in the crash.
