Domestic Affairs. There is now strong support growing in the Riksdag for introducing a ban on marriage between cousins. The proposal, which is being pushed by the Tidöpartierna, is receiving support from several parties across the political spectrum.

Both the Green Party, the Left Party and the Center Party have now declared their support for such a ban, which would mean that cousins would no longer be allowed to marry each other in Sweden. This is reported by Ekot.
The Social Democrats, who have previously been against criminalizing cousin marriage, are now more hesitant and are awaiting the responses to the consultation from the government's ongoing investigation into the issue.
The initiative from the Tidöpartierna has sparked debate and several consultation bodies are expected to comment in the coming months.
