According to testimony, around 200 people have been killed in the corridor, of which only ten have been confirmed Hamas fighters.

The soldiers paint the picture of how Israeli units shoot civilians for fun, much like in the award-winning film Schindler's List – but for real.

– There are no civilians. Everyone is a terrorist, a soldier tells Haaretz.

The Netzarim Corridor, a seven-kilometer-long militarized zone that cuts through Gaza from Kibbutz Beeri to the Mediterranean Sea, has been evacuated of its residents to make way for military bases and transport routes. Soldiers describe the area as a “line of dead bodies.”

An officer in the 252nd Division says that anyone who approaches is shot, and another describes a competition between units to kill the most Palestinians, whether civilians or combatants.

A young civilian, a 16-year-old boy, was shot dead on suspicion of terrorism, which later turned out to be false. Despite this, the soldiers were congratulated. Testimony also reveals that the Israeli Air Force's previously “restrained” protocol for attacks on unconfirmed targets has been relaxed. A former soldier describes how unarmed people are attacked with machine guns and buried by bulldozers. According to Haaretz, several soldiers testify to a “Wild West” mentality among Israeli commanders, where no Gazan resident is considered innocent. The Israeli military, however, claims that their operations are carried out according to strict protocols and that any violations are investigated.
