Since it was the second quarter in a row without growth in the Swedish economy, it means that Sweden is in recession.

Sweden was already predicted in the spring to have a winter with the EU's worst growth (graphic above) of 0.2 percent, but the result looks to be even worse.

To bring about change, the government has, among other things, appointed an investigation into higher housing prices, which was completed last fall.

The investigator Jan Hassler then suggested that amortization requirements and mortgage ceilings should be eased in order to significantly increase prices, SvD reported in November.

At the same time, gloomy news is coming from Sweden's most important trading partner Germany, where the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung states that the country will have a purely shrinking economy of 0.2 percent this year. This is also expected to negatively affect the Swedish economy.

This is a downgrade from the previous forecast of 0.3 percent growth.
