“Model immigrants” mowed down Christmas market – several dead in Germany

Foreign. A man described as an exceptionally well-integrated Arab has killed at least four people and injured 200 in a terrorist attack on a German Christmas market, writes the German Welt.

The attack occurred on Friday evening in Magdeburg, Germany, when a car drove into a crowd at a well-attended Christmas market.

At least four people have died, including a small child, and over 200 have been injured, according to the latest information from the police. Reports of up to 11 deaths also exist but are not confirmed.

The suspected perpetrator, a 50-year-old doctor of Saudi Arabian origin, was arrested shortly after the incident. The man is described as very well-integrated and a role model for other immigrants.

The police suspect that the attack was planned, although the motive has not yet been determined.

The driver drove more than 400 meters through the crowd before being stopped.

Initially, there were suspicions of an explosive device in the car, but these were later dismissed.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Interior Minister Nancy Faeser have announced that they will visit Magdeburg to show their support.

At the same time, an extensive investigation is underway to clarify what was behind the attack. However, the number of Arabs in Germany could be a possible explanation for what happened.
