Domestic. The Christian Democrats are taking a step closer to a potential government collaboration with the Sweden Democrats. According to information to Svenska Dagbladet, the party board plans to scrap the wording in the 2022 election plan that previously ruled out SD cooperation.

The change means that KD wants to keep the door open for more options ahead of the 2026 election. The party board hopes to broaden the possibilities for power collaboration with the new wording, without committing to any formal decision yet.
The 2026 election plan will be determined by the party council next year, and the final wording has not yet been finalized. But the signal from the party board is clear: The Christian Democrats no longer want to close the door to governing together with the SD.
Previously, KD has clearly said no to entering a government with the Sweden Democrats, but the new line indicates a changed strategy ahead of the upcoming elections.
