C-pedophile can receive 18.6 million in compensation

You pay. Less than an hour after regional councilor Gustav Hemming (C) resigned as a result of having masturbated in front of a 13-year-old boy, he applied for compensation from the remuneration committee. Now the 52-year-old can receive SEK 91,260 a month until he retires, reports Aftonbladet.

“I want you to activate provisions on pensions and severance pay for elected officials. It should apply to fixed-term pensions, then I am older than 50, have been in service for 18 years, that is, several terms of office.”

So writes Gustav Hemming in an email to X that was sent only 52 minutes after he submitted his resignation to Region Stockholm.

Hemming, who has been a prominent politician in the region for almost two decades, resigned immediately last week after the Center Party received a tip that he was the man wanted by the police in connection with a feature on the “Wanted” TV show. In the feature, an unknown man was seen masturbating in front of a 13-year-old boy on the Roslag track, which was captured by surveillance cameras.

On Wednesday, the party contacted the police and confronted Hemming with the information. Shortly thereafter, he resigned from his duties and party membership.

According to the rules, regional councilors who resign after several terms of office can receive up to 65 percent of their previous salary as a fixed-term pension. For Hemming, who had a monthly salary of 140,400 kronor, this means a possible compensation of over 91,260 kronor per month until retirement.

If Gustav Hemming receives this amount every month until retirement at the age of 67, he would receive a total of approximately 18.6 million kronor in compensation. ​​

Neither Region Stockholm nor the Center Party have wanted to give any detailed comments about Hemming's compensation application, writes Aftonbladet.

The case is now the subject of both a police investigation and further processing of Hemming's expansive financial claims.

With his resignation, Gustav Hemming becomes the tenth politician in less than three years to be forced to end his involvement in the Center Party due to links to pedophilia.
