Domestic. Saturday's demonstration in Uppsala to shed light on violence against women in elderly care brought together scores of committed citizens and associations, but a conspicuous absence was noted: the city's leading politicians and responsible officials.

Politician Agneta Gille (S) was one of those who had other things going for her. She has previously tried to get the organizers to delete criticism of the municipality from the demonstration.
The absence is harshly criticized by blogger Julia Caesar (pseud.), who writes that the incident is a clear example of the lack of responsibility from decision-makers in matters relating to the safety and security of the city's residents.
The demonstration, which was organized in support for Elsa, who was brutally raped by an immigrant in domestic service, attracted several hundred people to the square in Uppsala on Saturday.
Mustafa Panshiri, one of the organizers, has organized fundraisers to support Elsa financially.
“It means so much,” Elsa has expressed about the support she has received from the public.
But despite the strong support from citizens, the politicians chose not to participate.
Julia Caesar describes this as a sign of a deep nonchalance towards the victims and the problems that enable such abuses.
She also criticizes the personnel policy of the domestic service, which she believes is a “high-risk experiment” by hiring immigrants from third world countries in chaos.
“They must break with the personnel policy that allows a high-risk experiment with the employment of young men from violent and dysfunctional countries and cultures, and they must abdicate their duties as those responsible for the special group of needy, fragile people that older people are,” writes Julia Caesar.
She also notes that politicians think rather short-term even from their own egoistic perspective.
“They repress the realization that in just a few decades it is they themselves who may be forced to be subject to so-called 'elderly care' – run over, neglected, nonchalant, treated without dignity, only seen as a burden and a budget item,” writes Julia Caesar.
