The women are justifying their decisions with the fear of restrictions on “reproductive rights” during the upcoming term of Trump .
This despite the fact that he himself repeatedly stated that he sees the abortion issue as a matter for the states and that he has no plans to tighten any abortion laws. He has even promised to use his veto power as president to stop attempts by conservatives to introduce federal abortion bans.
One of the women is 25-year-old Eden Ixora from Florida, who is active on the porn site Onlyfans.< /p>
– For me, the thought of getting pregnant is worse than death. I do what I can to protect my right to choose. I choose myself, she tells Newsweek.
Ixora is planning a bilateral salpingectomy, a procedure in which both fallopian tubes are removed.
Several other women have chosen similar procedures, including Lydia Echols, 28 , from Texas.
– If I am going to be denied any rights for the next four (or more) years, I will not give up without a fight, she says.
Another woman, who recently sterilized, states that she felt himself directly pressured into the procedure because of the election result:
– I am not happy that I felt forced into an operation I did not want. The presidential election forced me to sterilize myself. It is terrible.
On social media, a number of left-wing women have also declared that they now intend to boycott all forms of sex and relationships with men. Some of them refer to the so-called 4B movement, a radical feminist movement from Korea that urges women to renounce husbands and children.
