Domestic. Swedish Minister Carl-Oskar Bohlin (M) stated on Tuesday that Finnish police investigated new cable crimes in Finland as suspected sabotage. This later turned out to be false – and Finnish police were quickly forced to come out and deny the misinformation.

“We are taking this seriously. Finnish police are investigating what that has happened and due to the circumstances surrounding what happened, sabotage is suspected”, was the comment from Carl-Oskar Bohlin to the information about the cable breaches.

Bohlin, who is Minister for Civil defense, has now corrected his statement – and claims that the misinformation he spread came from the Swedish police.

“I reproduced information from the Swedish Police Agency that, taking into account the circumstances, sabotage was suspected,” he writes in a comment to Expressen.

However, it is still unclear where the information about suspected crime originally came from. Even Sveriges Radio initially reported on suspicions of crime, but has not reported the source of this information, notes Omni.

It was determined on Tuesday afternoon that the cable breaks in Finland were accidentally caused by an excavator.
