Consumer. A new poll shows that a large majority of the Swedish population wants to ban telephone sales.

According to the survey, carried out by Indikator för Ekot, nearly 75 percent of those questioned state that they are positive about a total ban on all forms of telephone sales.
The survey was carried out after Dagens Nyheter revealed that The Social Democrats' lottery business used telephone sales aimed at the elderly and the confused.
The revelation has sparked criticism and discussion about the industry and its methods.
The director general of the Swedish Consumer Agency Cecilia Tisell tells SVT that it is required to be much tougher take action against telephone sales, and have several proposals.
– We specifically propose that there be an outright ban on telephone sales of loans, says hon.
In a debate article in Dagens Nyheter she writes:
“It is the sales method as such that is problematic. It is especially difficult for vulnerable target groups such as the elderly, people with cognitive impairments or those with low knowledge of Swedish.”
