Camilla Hamid – who is known from “Summer in P1” and her SVT program “Camilla Hamid's bakresa: Marocco” – got in touch with the man through her company.
She offered him a job to help him come to Sweden.
The Moroccan was hired in the spring of 2024 and had to work as a janitor within the company. It was a permanent employment with a salary of SEK 30,000 and a three-month notice period.
However, the relationship changed when the man began to exhibit problematic behavior. He was dismissed in the summer of 2024 after an incident in early June, when he complained about his lack of integration.
– He said something like he didn't have time to learn Swedish and doesn't have time to practice it, that he somehow didn't have time to establish himself in society, says Camilla Hamid in questioning.
– I pointed out that if he changes his habits, he might have time to learn or do the things he wants. Then he got very angry and said he would shut me up.
The man then went forward and took out a razor-sharp knife with which he threatened to kill the SVT profile. She was so scared that she did not dare to fire him until some time later he was on holiday in his native Morocco.
After the dismissal, the man continued to try to contact Camilla Hamid, both by showing up at her workplaces and via messages, in an attempt to get his job back. The behavior escalated and eventually came to include threats and physical attacks.
For several months, Camilla Hamid was subjected to harassment and violence from the Moroccan. The situation culminated when, at the end of August, he attacked her when she was getting into the car. He abused her and destroyed property, including by smashing the windshield of her car.
– He grabs my neck and starts pounding on my head with his fist. He hits everywhere, I don't know where, it was the whole body, says the SVT profile in questioning.
According to the preliminary investigation, the Moroccan used punches and strangulation during the assault. Camilla Hamid managed to alert the police, and several patrols were sent to the scene. The witnesses also described how the man acted aggressively and threateningly.
From testimony it emerged that the man said that he did not care if he went there for the crimes against the veil profile, because “it is better to be in prison in Sweden than live in Morocco”.
The district court has now sentenced the 34-year-old to seven months in prison for assault and vandalism.
After serving his sentence, he must is expelled from Sweden, and he is prohibited from returning for a five-year period.
