The announcement was made in a press release from the party during Thursday morning.

Annika Hirvonen, group leader of the Green Party's parliamentary group, comments on the incident for SVT:

“Elin has acted inappropriately. It is an action that is not compatible with representing the Green Party and Elin has decided to resign from her position as a member of the Riksdag.”

Elin Söderberg herself has not wanted to give any further comments about what has happened, but refers to Hirvonen .

To SVT Nyheter Västerbotten she says briefly:

– I can't talk now.

Exactly what happened during the after party is not apparent from the party's statement.
