Last Friday, Defense Minister Pål Jonson (M) received his Ukrainian colleague Defense Minister Rustem Umjerov at Karlberg Castle.

There the Defense Minister presented the plans for a new Swedish contribution to Ukrainian defense industry with a focus on mass production of long-range robots and long-range drones.

A bilateral meeting and meetings with Swedish defense industry with a focus on possible cooperation opportunities with Ukraine were also held at the castle, according to the government. A press conference was also held where the plans for new Swedish future support were presented.

“Given an upcoming parliamentary decision, the future support may consist of significant contributions to the Ukrainian defense industry for mass production of, among other things, long-range robots and long-range drones which are then donated to the Ukrainian Armed Forces”, writes the government.

The contribution will be able to be included in the upcoming 18th support package that the government plans to present early next year.

The 18th package will be financed within the framework of the three-year support of 25 billion per year 2024-2026 for military support to Ukraine.
