– I have nightmares about it. Every night I walk around the apartment, sometimes several times, and check that no one is hiding here, says Elsa with tears in her voice in the interview.

The 84-year-old now comes forward with his name after passing away the designation “Vera” in the media reporting. And she is very upset.

– I wish the municipality would give me my dignity back. That I'm not just a spitball, the way I've been treated, Elsa tells Upsala Nya Tidning.

Even though Elsa alerted the municipality already after the home service man – an immigrant from the Arab world – exposed himself to her in the autumn In 2023, no measures were taken.

She says that six months later she was raped when the man, with his own key, forced his way in.

Despite the fact that the man was suspended from his previous job due to sexual abuse, he had been given a job in home care.

“They just wave me away”
Elsa is strongly critical to the municipality's handling and describes how she herself was left without support – while the municipality paid out over SEK 36,150 in “crisis support” to the staff.

– They would have to admit that they have wronged me a lot, but they wave just avoid me and think I'm awkward for daring to talk about it.

The 84-year-old says that she was, among other things, tormented by pangs of conscience and wondered if she was the one who was a “bad woman” by letting him to prey on her.

Elsa's grandchildren have now reported the municipality to the police because they did not act on the first alarm.

The man has been fired and arrested, but the prosecutor dropped the investigation due to lack of evidence. Elsa now hopes that her story can help other vulnerable women dare to come forward.

– I didn't want to talk about it at first, but I realized that I had to talk and that it had to come out, she tells Upsala New Newspaper.
