Media. Sveriges Radio's “Ekot” has been condemned by the review board for having broken the truth in a feature that was broadcast on July 1, 2024. The feature was about increased tensions between Hezbollah in southern Lebanon and Israel, but a description of the Golan Heights was considered misleading.< /strong>

In the report, the reporter visited a restaurant in northeastern Israel, which remained open despite fighting. The restaurant was described as being “at the foot of the Golan Heights in the north-eastern part of Israel”.
The Review Board considers that this may give listeners a false impression that the Golan Heights belong to Israel, when the area in fact belongs to Syria but is annexed by Israel.
The board finds that the wording violated the requirement of objectivity and therefore rejects the feature.
