Domestic. Dissatisfaction with the Tidö government's immigration policy continues to ferment – and now party profiler Kent Ekeroth demands that SD make a moratorium on naturalized citizenship its highest priority issue.

The reason is that she expressed in an interview that the Migration Agency should slow down the issuance of new citizenships, which MP's Rasmus Ling describes as a “clear case of ministerial rule”.
SD leader Jimmie Åkesson welcomed in a post on X this weekend the new proposal from Ebba Busch. He further claimed that the SD “for exactly one year” would have demanded a moratorium on new citizenships, but that the other parties then refused the “demand”:

Kent Ekeroth, SD leader in Dalarna, has previously argued that the party should demand a moratorium both for new residence permits and for naturalized citizenships. In a new editorial on his own website Samnytt, Ekeroth now notes that the Tidö government has handed out new citizenships at “roughly the same rate as during the S government 2018-2022” – so far around 150,000. More than half have gone to immigrants from the Middle East and Africa.
According to Ekeroth, Åkesson's information about SD's alleged “demands” came as news to him a year ago. Now he believes that this should become the party's number one priority.
“Stop the madness. Realize that the Swedish Migration Agency cannot be trusted to hand these out,” writes Kent Ekeroth.
“I know that many SD members in the Riksdag are frustrated that things are not going faster on some hold, also concerning migration policy,” he further states.
Kent Ekeroth states that such a moratorium can be introduced easily and that no constitutional amendment is required.
According to him, as SD- politicians themselves hear two explanations for the SD leadership's passivity: the other three Tidö parties and the EU.
As far as the EU is concerned, Ekeroth believes that you should just ignore them and let them come up with possible sanctions.
However, the other Tidö parties are a bigger problem, according to the SD top.
“Many there probably did not understand the importance of this, and probably not even that the alternative existed, until SD pushed it. Convincing them certainly takes time, but it can probably only be done in the same way always: that SD forms opinion, drives the issue in the media and on social media. That's why it was so important and welcome that Jimmie went out on Twitter/X and addressed this,” writes Ekeroth.
He wants the following three points to be the main focus of the party :
– Completely stopped immigration (with some exceptions)
– Stopped naturalized citizenships (with some exceptions)
– Revoked citizenships
“About the other parties don't understand yet, so get we do with that issue as we did on the immigration issue. Stand up for us. Shout out so everyone can hear.
