It is a “clear case of ministerial rule”, says Rasmus Ling (MP) to Aftonbladet.
Ebba Busch said last week that the Swedish Migration Agency should slow down citizenship cases until stricter rules, which are currently being investigated, can come into force.
In the interview with Aftonbladet, the minister said:
– It would be unwise if we now suddenly get tens of thousands of new Swedish citizens with the strongest passport in the whole world, the Swedish passport, but who do not really share these fundamental values that make Sweden Sweden.
The KU notification is based on the fact that according to the Swedish constitution, ministers are not allowed to influence authority decisions. The Green Party believes that Busch's statement can be interpreted as an attempt to control the Migration Agency's work, which goes against the principle of the independence of authorities.
The matter will now be reviewed by the constitutional committee, which will decide whether the statement violates existing rules and practice.
