On Sunday evening Swedish time came the news that US President Joe Biden has approved the use of long-range robots for Ukrainian attacks on targets on Russian territory.

The decision, which comes less than two months before Biden leaves the White House, has met with both support and criticism internationally.

Russian politician Vladimir Dzhabarov warns that the decision could lead to an escalation.

– This is a big step towards starting the third world war, he says, reports Remix News.

Even Andrei Klishas, a member of the Russian Federation Council, expresses concern on social media and believes that the escalation could have serious consequences for Ukraine.

The state newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta describes the decision as one of President Joe Biden's most provocative to date and warns that it could have “catastrophic consequences.” The tabloid Komsomolskaya Pravda calls it a clear escalation.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, however, has welcomed the decision and commented that “the robots will speak for themselves”.

Joe Biden justified the decision with the fact that it is a response to North Korea's support of Russia with troops and increased pressure from Russian attacks. Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski defends the decision and calls it “the language that Putin understands”.

At the same time, Donald Trump's son Junior criticizes the decision and accuses the US military industry of pushing the war for financial gain.

“The military-industrial complex seems to want to start a third world war before my father has time to create peace and save lives,” he writes on X.

Several Western countries, including France and Britain, has followed the US example and given the go-ahead for Ukraine to use long-range weapons against Russian targets. However, the decision has increased concerns about a potential nuclear escalation.
