Domestic. A total of 133,284 foreigners have received Swedish citizenship since the governing parties and the Sweden Democrats took over the majority in the Riksdag after the 2022 election. Fewer than 1,000 people of those who received citizenship come from Nordic countries, and now the generous policy is being criticized from several quarters. >

The statistics blog Affe Karlsson has published a compilation of public statistics which shows that only 955 of these people were Nordic citizens, and that the lion's share of the new citizens instead belong to various problem countries in the third world.

A whopping 75,000 of those who were granted Swedish citizenship by the Tidö government came from, for example, the Middle East and Africa.

“As many as Spartan Stadium in Michigan has room for,” notes the blogger himself in an X post.

SD politician Kent Ekeroth is critical of his own party and says that it is “inexplicable” that nothing was done about the citizenship distribution from day one.

“SD and the Tidö gang have very good, but misses the most important ball. With a bang,” he writes on X.

Even the bourgeois opinion maker and political advisor Per Gudmundson is critical.

“Sweden makes 10 times as many migrants as citizens compared to Denmark. Minimum level my ass,” he writes on X.

Gudmundson refers to figures noted by the immigration researcher Henrik Emilsson, who writes that the Tidö government is second most generous in granting citizenship to immigrants of any government in the entire world. Only Justin Trudeau's left-liberal government in Canada is more generous.

At the same time, the Tidö agreement states that under no circumstances should immigrants' rights be more generous “than what is an obligation of a member state under EU law “. Part of the agreement which, like much else, has so far run into the sand for SD and the government.
