Instead of a vaccine against influenza, the people received a vaccine against polio , tetanus and whooping cough.

– We take this very seriously and will now look over the entire process regarding the vaccination work to ensure that it does not happen again, says Helen Karlsson, medically responsible nurse in the municipality, in a press release.

The scandal is the second in less than a month linked to vaccination in Sweden. In October, the Swedish Medicines Agency cracked down on Svea Vaccin, after it emerged that unlicensed staff were vaccinating people even though they were taking medications that may not be combined with the vaccine. It also emerged that the company transported and stored the vaccine incorrectly, writes Aftonbladet.
