Reinfeldt wants to be re-elected as SvFF's chairman

Domestic. Fredrik Reinfeldt, current chairman of the Swedish Football Association, announces that he wants to be re-elected – despite the massive criticism he faced during his two years in office.

“The union meeting that elected me in 2023 gave me a clear mandate for change that I have managed and intend to continue with if I receive renewed confidence,” writes Reinfeldt on the union's website.

During his time as chairman, the debate has been intense, not least around his support for the VAR video­assessment­system in Swedish football and reports of a poor work environment within the confederation. Hammarby has also clearly expressed that they prefer another candidate.

So far there is no opposing candidate, but nominations can take place until January 15. Previously, the former AIK chairman Robert Falck mentioned that he might consider running, but he has not yet been nominated.

The selection committee keeps the door open to proposing another candidate.

< p>– If there is a candidate who we believe can make Swedish football better […] it is clear that it can be the proposal submitted by the selection committee, says Håkan Wifvesson, chairman of the selection committee, to TT.
