Foreign. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has had a conversation with US President-elect Donald Trump. The duo agreed to work for a “return to peace in Europe”.

Scholz stressed the importance of continuing the long-standing cooperation between the countries, according to a spokesperson for the German government.
– They also agreed to work together to return to peace in Europe, says the spokesperson without specifying what this means.
During the conversation, congratulated Scholz also credits Trump personally to his election victory.
Olaf Scholz also commented on Trump's previous threat to impose tariffs on European products, and referred to the fact that the EU has the main responsibility for trade issues. Vice Chancellor Robert Habeck has previously expressed concern that new tariffs could be targeted at specific German products, which could create new problems for Germany's exports.
