Fria Tider reported on Sunday about the surveillance video showing how Syrian immigrant Karam, 26, throws a 91-year-old woman down a flight of stairs.

The crime was committed while the man, who lacks Swedish citizenship, was on parole for a assault rape. And the video has provoked strong reactions on social media.

One of those reacting is Riksdag member Adam Marttinen (SD).

“Ideally, we would just make the vomit an outlaw and let the street decide a reasonable fate. Now we hope that current and future investigations ensure that the pigs are allowed to sit in cold, cramped cells and that they are deported without regard to their situation!” writes the SD politician on X.

The post has provoked strong reactions from a number of different profiles on the left.

“Lynch justice instead of the rule of law. That is what distinguishes SD from all democratic parties,” tweets Ulf Bjereld, left-wing activist and professor of political science.

TT veteran Owe Nilsson comments:

“Why sit on the justice committee if you want to let 'the street decide'? Understand that it's fascists the government leans against.”
