The odds: 97 percent for Trump

Before the election, the polls showed that it would be a shake-up of a rarely seen kind.

But during the night the vote count has given an advantage to Trump, who has already taken home several important states.

Because the opinion polls have been so unclear, before this year's election, many looked at the odds of the major betting sites to get a picture of who will win.

On the betting platforms, the odds have now changed dramatically in Trump's favor. On the biggest betting site in politics, Polymarket, the odds of Trump winning at the time of writing are 97 percent, and 4 percent for Kamala Harris. Similar numbers are seen on other comparable sites.

Early on Monday morning Swedish time, it was clear that Donald Trump was victorious in North Carolina, the first of the important so-called wave master states where a winner was crowned. In about half of the states there are so far ready results.
