“God, we pray for the American people, about outstretched hands in the time to come.”
So reads the introduction to the prayer that Archbishop Martin Modéus published on social media.
The Twitter prayer continues:< /p>
“In a time of worry, we ask for unity in the world. In the environment of big and harsh words, we ask for reflection and the ability to reason. Give wisdom to promote freedom, compassion and hope, and help us all to seek peace and understanding, even when we disagree. We pray for a world where our children can face the future with confidence and trust.”
The post, published shortly after Trump was declared victorious, has received criticism from users on X (formerly Twitter).
“What on earth is this political scum. It's people like you who make people leave the Swedish church,” writes author and journalist Chris Forsne.
Mira Aksoy, editor of the SD channel Riks, comments on the archbishop's prayer as follows:
“Are you an archbishop for the Church of Sweden or for the Social Democrats?”
God, we pray for the American people, for outstretched hands in the time to come.
In a time of concern, we pray for cohesion in the world. In the environment of the big and hard words, we ask for reflection and the ability to come to your senses. Give wisdom to promote freedom, compassion and hope, and help… pic.twitter.com/83VHyacPYq— Martin Modéus (@BiskopMartin) November 6, 2024
