Jordanis Kouroutsidis, who during his early criminal career in the 1980s set terror in the Stockholm area, has previously been convicted of several assaults and rapes.

In connection with a large number of assaults against women in the Tensta area in 1987, he was nicknamed “The Ghost Man” because he wore a homemade white hood with holes during the crimes for the eyes. He sometimes used a knife in the crimes.

In 1988, Kouroutsidis was sentenced to four years in prison, but he managed to escape after a year and assaulted more women in Lund. After serving his sentence, he continued to assault and rape women, and was again sentenced to prison in 1992.

Then he disappeared without a trace and eluded justice for over a decade. During this time he lived in Greece with his partner and their common child. When he returned to Sweden in the 2000s, he avoided punishment for previous crimes due to the statute of limitations. However, Kouroutsidis has since been prosecuted and sentenced for new violent and sexual crimes on several occasions, and escaped with short sentences.

Criminal care assessments have repeatedly shown that he poses a high risk of recidivism in sexual crimes. Despite this, Kouroutsidis has been able to ignore participating in treatment programs to reduce the risk of future crimes, according to Aftonbladet.

Most recently, in 2020, Kouroutsidis was sentenced to four years in prison for a rape in his home in Kållered – an abuse that was stopped only when the police knocked after an alarm from an acquaintance of the woman.
