The current government has reduced asylum immigration but at the same time compensated for this by increasing so-called labor immigration from the third world.
A large number of Indians have come to Sweden in recent years. They often work as food delivery men and the like.
Ulf Kristersson today draws attention to the Indian holiday Diwali – and thanks Indian immigrants in a video on social media for choosing Sweden.
“Happy Diwali to all of you who celebrate the festival of light – around the world – from India to Sweden”, writes Kristersson on X and continues:
“And a special thank you to all of you who choose to live and work in Sweden and contribute to our competitiveness – not least with excellence in IT. It makes us stronger.”
In the video, he states that Indians and Hindus have made an “invaluable contribution to our country”.
In the comments section on X, the criticism is not kind, and many mock Ulf Kristersson with various references to the delivery company Foodora, which employs many Indian immigrants.
Several users also question the Prime Minister's priorities regarding holidays:
“Does he also go out and wish us Swedes a nice All Saints' Day? I wouldn't believe it, huh. What a piss rat he is.”
