Foreign. The election in Georgia was “free and democratic”, says Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán after reading the reports from OSCE election observers.

Orbán, who currently holds the presidency of the EU Council of Ministers, during a visit to Tblisi congratulated the Georgian people for “voting for peace ” and to “not have let the country become another Ukraine”.

He also said that “if the liberals had won” the EU would have thought the election was democratic, but since the conservative ruling party won, Brussels objections.

Despite OSCE election observers finding no signs of systematic election fraud, the opposition in Georgia, backed by the EU and the US, has refused to recognize the election results, claiming the election was “stolen” by the government .

The governing party Georgian Dream, for its part, has encouraged a thorough review of the election, and today it was announced that the electoral authority will recount the votes in 14 percent of the polling stations.
