Michael Kyrath, who lost his daughter Ann-Marie in January 2023, sharply criticized Germany's immigration policy and the daily violent attacks it led to.

– We have between 24 and 32 knife attacks every day in Germany. Many of them are fatal. Every day that we continue to discuss this, people are dying, children are dying. There are parents who stand by their children's grave or coffin and caress their child's hand for the last time in their lives, and this hand is ice cold. You don't have children, you can't imagine that, Kyrath told Scholz.

It is the first time that the Chancellor of Germany allows himself to be confronted in this way by a relative of a victim of the immigration policy.

Ann-Marie and her boyfriend Danny were brutally stabbed to death by an illegal immigrant from Palestine on a train heading to Hamburg. The murderer, who was already convicted of serious crimes and should have been deported, is now serving a life sentence.

During the debate, Kyrath questioned why such individuals are allowed to stay in the country at all.

– It is not about deporting people, it is about why they are even allowed into the country at all, he said.

Michael Kyrath also mentioned that the German government funds a website, “Handbook Germany”, which provides information to asylum seekers on how to avoid deportation. Scholz claims in the debate that support for the site has ended, but the NZZ reports that this is not true and that the site is still funded by taxpayers.
