– It was a fantastic job done by all the staff. The operation gave a “depressingly” good result, says Johan Ljungeld, head of police operations, Stockholm police region, in a statement on the police's website, where the incident is now described.
He believes that the outcome of the operation confirms the picture that there is a widespread parallel society in Sweden, where foreign persons who are here illegally are used in undeclared work and other criminal activities. In several cases, there are a number of different crimes that are linked to the people in care.
39 living at one address
One of the attacks was in a villa in a Stockholm suburb. The neighbors had contacted the police with suspicions about a house in the area. Since the house was bought by a company, a large number of people had started to move in and around the house. The curtains were constantly drawn for the windows. The maintenance of the house was neglected. During a check, it turned out that 39 people were registered at the address.
“When the police entered the villa in the evening, they met ten men. Construction workers' clothes hung in the hall and there were many pairs of shoes on the shoe shelves. When the house was searched, it turned out that there were 29 beds in the home,” the police write.
The men who were in the villa were checked within the framework of what is called internal immigration control, to see if they had the right to stay in Sweden. This meant that the men had to show identity documents and prove their right of residence. Five of the men lacked the right to stay in the country and were taken in for interviews. After conversations and decision-makers' assessment, the men were then taken to the custody of the Swedish Migration Agency.
A total of 80 internal checks on foreigners and 36 workplace inspections were carried out during the week of the operation. In connection with these, 32 people were taken into custody with the support of ch. 9. Section 9 of the Aliens Act. Ten people were taken into custody during a search of the home, which the police entered with the support of Section 20 of the Police Act.
In the first week of October, a chartered plane departed from Sweden with destination Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. On board the plane were 51 people with enforcement orders. The number of people who were sent back from Sweden in the operation was the highest number of executed alien cases at one and the same time.
