On October 3, a incident when Palestine activists in the gallery behaved disruptively and threw a bag of tomatoes at Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard in the chamber.
Due to the incident, the Riksdag administration will hang a net in front of parts of the audience gallery.
– Parliamentary work must not be disrupted by incidents like this. Debates and hearings must be able to continue without interruption. It is of course also important that members of parliament, ministers, staff and audience should feel safe when they are in the chamber. That is why we are setting up this network and will also increase collaboration with the police and have a strengthened presence of security guards at certain debates, says Niklas Åström, head of the Riksdag administration's security department, in a statement.
The network will be there on try during the autumn and it will be suspended shortly, according to the Riksdag administration.
