The attack took place at a base near Binyamina, about 33 kilometers south of Haifa, reports BBC News.

Hezbollah has claimed responsibility and says the attack was in retaliation for Israeli attacks in southern Lebanon and Beirut earlier this week.

According to the IDF, seven soldiers are seriously injured, while the rescue service Magen David Adom reports that 61 people have been injured, three of them critically. The victims were taken to various hospitals in northern Israel.

The attack was carried out with the help of several drones and hit a training camp for the Golani Brigade. A large number of the injured were in a dining hall at the time of the attack, and were surprised when a drone hit the building.

According to Hezbollah, they first used rockets to confuse Israeli air defenses, thereby enabling the drones to reach its target.

In response to the increased threats, the United States has decided to send the advanced Thaad robotic defense system to Israel, the US Department of Defense announces at the same time.

In central Gaza, 20 people were killed in a Israeli air attack on a school building in the Nuseirat refugee camp on Sunday evening.
