The incident relates to an article published on January 7, 2024, where Insikt24 reported on the man's contacts contacts with an alleged 14-year-old girl via chat platforms.
In fact, the 14-year-old girl did not really exist but it was Dumpen who played her to trick the man and confront him.
The man, who was employed by the Police Authority and previously at Sweden's Radio, was singled out by name and picture.
The Media Ombudsman and the Media Ethics Committee state that the man did not have a public role that justified such an intervention in his personal integrity. Therefore, there was no public interest that justified the publication of his identity.
“The complainant is not a person who acts in the public arena. He has worked at the Police Authority and Sweden's Radio. However, it has not emerged that he has held a leading position. The subject of the publication also has no connection to his professional practice. Furthermore, he has not been convicted or charged with any crime, other than – according to the article – a case of violent resistance in connection with a pub visit that some circumstances have come to light regarding the person of the informant which means that there is a public interest regarding his identity in this context,” writes MO.
