Domestic. Toyota becomes the latest in a line of big companies scrapping their bets on political correctness. This after the automotive group recently became the subject of a PK controversy online.

According to Bloomberg, Toyota has sent out an internal message to its employees in the US where it appears that going forward they will focus on initiatives that promote education in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) as well as preparation for working life.

Toyota also announces that they will no longer participate in The Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index, which ranks companies based on LGBTQP-friendliness.

Last week, anti-woke activist and filmmaker Robby Starbuck exposed several of Toyota's PK initiatives, which included support for organizations opposing the laws on banning gender reassignments for minors. Starbuck also pointed to the formation of Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) based on race and gender identity, as well as Toyota's sponsorship of a drag queen program for children.

Robby Starbuck is praising Toyota's decision and now sharing parts of the company's pm.

“We will work to ensure that activities and events focus on professional development, networking, mentoring and volunteering – engagement that drives our business forward,” the company management writes, among other things.

Toyota follows in the footsteps of other major companies that have recently chosen to distance themselves from so-called DEI initiatives, including Ford Motor Company, Lowe's and Molson Coors, following pressure from critics such as Starbuck. In August, Ford announced that it would focus on business goals instead of taking a stand on polarizing social issues.
