Bin Laden's son kicked out of France

Foreign. Omar bin Laden, the son of late al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, has been deported from France after posting social media posts that French authorities say constitute “defense of terrorism”.< /p>

Omar, 43, has lived in Normandy for several years and worked as an artist there.

The post that led to the expulsion was published on the anniversary of Osama bin Laden's death in May 2023. The post described his father as a martyr who “built nations and created glory” and paid tribute to those who “wrote history with their blood”.

This led to Omar bin Laden was accused of glorifying terrorism, which subsequently resulted in his deportation.

French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau confirmed the decision at X, stressing that Omar bin Laden is now permanently banned from returning to France, for any reason.

Omar has previously distanced himself from his father's acts of violence and expressed disappointment that his father was killed without trial.
