Stockholmers are asked to stay at home

Domestic. Sweden is facing extensive rainy weather, with large amounts of precipitation expected to affect mainly eastern Svealand and the coast of Norrland.

According to forecasts from the weather institute StormGeo, Stockholm could receive up to a month's worth of rain in just 48 hours, which could cause significant problems.

< p>– There is a remarkable amount of rain coming. We are then up to the level that normally occurs in Stockholm throughout the month of October, says Viktor Bergman, meteorologist at SMHI, to Svenska Dagbladet.

Johan Groth warns that several rain areas are moving across the country and that the rainfall will cover large parts of Svealand, Götaland and southern Norrland. The greatest risk of flooding is in Stockholm and the coast north of Sundsvall, where up to 80 millimeters of rain can fall in a short time.

The rescue service in Stockholm has urged those who can stay at home to do so.

“The weather can lead to both flooding in various places and queues in traffic, so if you have the opportunity to work from home, tomorrow could be a good day to do it,” Greater Stockholm's fire service writes on its Facebook page.< /p>

SMHI has issued a yellow weather warning for high flows in Västernorrland and Västerbotten, and Greater Stockholm's fire service urges residents to work from home if possible, as the weather risks causing traffic problems and flooding.
