According to the Hungarian-language news source Kárpáti Igaz Szó, the corruption was exposed when Krupá was caught with a huge amount of money in his home – a total of 6 million dollars.
During the search, the authorities found 5.24 million dollars, 300,000 euros and 5 million Ukrainian hryvnias, as well as jewelry and other valuables. Krupá is also said to have tried to throw bags of money, containing half a million dollars, out of a window when she was arrested.
A picture that has been circulated shows Krupá's son lying on a bed surrounded by wads of bills, but the photo could be staged.
The investigation has also revealed that Krupá owns 30 properties in Khmelnytskyj, Lviv and Kiev, nine luxury cars, as well as hotel and restaurant establishments. In addition, she owns real estate in Austria, Spain and Turkey and has $2.3 million in foreign bank accounts.
Tetyana Krupá is suspected of amassing these riches by demanding bribes from men who sought proof of disability to avoid mobilization for the war.
Forged medical documents and lists of men who escaped military service with fabricated diagnoses were found in her office.
Krupá and her family – where all male members are officially registered as disabled – have themselves managed to avoid participating in the war.
