Ericsson has been considering moving its headquarters from Kista for some time, according to information to Dagens Industri. The discussions surrounding a possible move are said to have been initiated by CEO Börje Ekholm already last year, and one of the main reasons is the increased insecurity in the area.
According to the Swedish Engineers union, the staff have expressed concerns about safety, and it is happening that employees are escorted to the subway in the evening.
– The staff experiences insecurity before and after normal working hours and it can be tricky to attract high-profile competence there. We also had a wave of robberies a few years ago, says Per Norlander, who is group negotiator for Sweden's Engineers at Ericsson Sweden, to DI.
Real estate consultant Cushman & Wakefield is said to have been tasked with searching for new premises for Ericsson, according to unconfirmed information from Fastighetsvärlden. However, union representatives state that so far there has been no concrete dialogue about a move.
The company Coor has its headquarters near Ericsson's and has already decided to move its 310 employees to Solna this spring.
p>- It is an area that we feel has become more unsafe than when we moved in, says Coors CEO AnnaCarin Grandin to DI.
