Several municipalities and regions have recently also withdrawn their support for the association, which has received criticism for having linked to controversial texts about homosexuality and child molestation.

Gunnar Danielsson, chairman of the Study Association in Samverkan, says in a press release that the closure means a loss for diversity in Swedish public education.

However, others celebrate the decision. “Finally!”, Riksdag member Jonas Andersson (SD) writes on X and continues:

“SD has worked more than any other party to put an end to the rolling of grants to this Islamist study association. And now they are dismantling themselves moreover. These are concrete results that we would not have seen now without SD and the Tidö agreement.”
