Domestic. Anna Kinberg Batra was fired from her post as governor in Stockholm after receiving JO criticism for gross corruption. Now she is being moved to an expensive but symbolic position as director general of the so-called elephant cemetery — the rulers' own social security fund — where she will keep the monthly salary of SEK 114,800.

What she will do in the elephant cemetery, the government has not yet decided. Regardless of any duties, however, the employment will be expensive for taxpayers, as SEK 6,084,400 must be paid out plus social security contributions and benefits.

The announcement was made one day after the Ombudsman for Justice (JO) gave Kinberg Batra serious criticism due to of how she employed female friends in top positions at the authority who were given diffuse tasks, without first advertising the positions in the usual way.

The employment at the elephant cemetery is valid until February 2029.

— It is not a contract which applies to her specifically, this applies to heads of authorities. You get an appointment for a few years. I am absolutely sure that she will be able to do great work elsewhere in the state, says civil minister Erik Slottner to Aftonbladet.

Olle Lundin, professor of administrative law, believes that what Kinberg Batra has done as governor is «pure and pure corruption»:

— What she has devoted herself to, handing out high positions to her friends, is indisputably pure and simple corruption, he says to SVT.
