Media. Expo founder and left-wing academic Tobias Hübinette warns that more and more people are reading Fria Tider – which now again tops the lists of the most read alternative media.

TwittraShare< p>According to the compilation that Tobias Hübinette publishes on his blog, Fria Tider had just under 4 million visitors in August, which was half a million more than the runner-up Samnytt.
“While right-wing radical Fria Tider continues to 'board' SD -affiliated with Samnytt for the third month in a row – Samnytt has otherwise traditionally always been the 'lord of the road' of the SD-associated alternative media – so ETC continues to dominate completely on the left,” writes Hübinette.
That Fria Times are the biggest concern, says Tobias Hübinette, who founded the far-left Expo and is today a left-leaning race researcher at Karlstad University.
He links the trend to an increasingly widespread dissatisfaction with the Sweden Democrats and the Tidö government among younger people.
“The fact that the crypto-anti-Semitic, pro-Russian and sometimes racially ideological Free Times has overtaken the right-wing populist Samnytt when so-called big data 'speaks' is worrying and indicates that too many children and young people (i.e. the segment of the population who live their whole lives on the internet) perceive that SD has become a so-called establishment party because of the Tidö agreement,” he writes.
In August, the left-wing newspaper Dagens ETC sounded the alarm that “Kent Ekeroth's digital hate machine Samnytt” had been overtaken “by an even tougher competitor” – that is Fria Tider.
“During three summer months in 2024, the far-right Fria Tider has had an average of over 3.7 million page views – and has thus overtaken Samnytt,” wrote Dagens ETC at the time.
