EU. Countries that do not want to receive immigrants through the EU's upcoming rules on mandatory mass immigration should be able to register in an opt-out register, much like the telephoneregister NIX, and then it should be prohibited for the EU to send immigrants to the country . That is what Hungary and the Netherlands propose in a letter to the European Commission, Hungarian Mandiner reports.

Hungary announced this week that the country plans to join the Netherlands' demand for a register where countries that want to be exempted from the EU's migration policy can register.
Hungarian EU Minister János Bóka expressed on Wednesday that drastic measures are necessary to stop illegal migration and that Hungary will demand exemptions from the EU's asylum and migration rules if this becomes possible through a treaty amendment.
This development comes shortly after the new Dutch government announced that it intends to introduce the strictest asylum policy ever.
The Netherlands also submitted a formal request for a similar exemption from the upcoming EU rules on mandatory mass immigration.

The Netherlands is an extremely left-liberal country and is considered one of the strongest economies in Western Europe and is a major contributor to the EU budget. With its new announcement, the country marks a changed attitude towards immigration also among liberals within the union.
Despite the demands for exceptions, it is unclear whether any change will take place in the near future.
To change EU treaties require unanimity among all member states, which makes the process long and complicated.
The EU Commission does not expect any immediate changes to the treaties and the current asylum and migration rules are binding.
The Netherlands has also said it will still comply with these laws.
However, the situation reflects growing dissatisfaction with the EU's immigration policy. In the Netherlands, the king, who, like in Sweden, normally does not get involved in domestic political issues, recently stated that he supports the government's efforts to tighten immigration.
At the same time as Germany recently introduced border controls and Sweden launched a program to called voluntary return migration, Hungary remains steadfast in its membership of the Schengen area, even though Third World immigration to the country is limited.
