A former employee of the telemarketing company handling the sale, Effective Communication, says salespeople are told to refuse to end calls until the customer either buys a ticket or explicitly cancels contact.

According to the former employee, the majority of customers were older and were considered an easier target group as they could not understand the sales process.

Several sellers have testified that they sold lottery tickets to people who probably did not understand the terms of purchase, and in some cases demented people have been tricked into signing up for lottery tickets.

Since May 2022, the Swedish Consumer Agency has received 28 reports against Kombispel, of which 18 relate to telephone sales.

Several of the reports is about sales to elderly people with dementia, where relatives have complained that their relatives did not understand what they bought.

The Social Democrats have «chosen» not to comment on the accusations, but Jonas Lindholm, CEO of the A lotteries and Combi game, promises to investigate the situation.

The lottery business contributed over SEK 9 million to the party's coffers in 2023.
